METAL:PROCESS

All my metal prints display vibrant luminescent colors and have a beautiful glow that makes them appear back-lit.  Special dyes are infused into a thick translucent coating. The image is not printed onto the surface, but rather has a depth that, in effect, glows. People that see a metal print for the first time often think that the print is back-lit.

Metal prints are available in three levels of gloss. Deciding on which level of gloss is best is a matter of personal preference. While gloss is used by the majority of our customers because of it’s extraordinary luminosity, if glare is a problem (lots of windows), then Satin or Matte might be the better choice.

Because the image is infused into and not onto the special coating, the prints have unrivaled archival value and durability without the need for protective glass. In fact, prints are not only scratch-resistant, they are also waterproof. This makes them ideal for hanging in bathrooms, kitchens and other areas where paper prints would be susceptible to water damage.

PRINTING

Jill's images can be reproduced in increasing sizes of the same dimensions. Metal Prints are limited to 48 x 96 inches. For those that desire even larger display areas, we recommend creating a custom diptych or triptych.

Images printed with this process will last for generations when displayed indoors and out of direct sunlight. We use only ChromaLuxe metal and the longest lasting sublimation inks.  Like any fine art print, metal prints should not be exposed to direct sunlight . However, they can be hung outdoors if they are out of direct sunlight. Metal prints have an archival value that is better than the best giclee’s and photographic papers. Rochester Institute of Technology has conducted accelerated aging tests on metal prints and show an archival value of 2 to 4 times the image stability of traditional silver based photo papers. In addition to RIT testing, another highly respected testing facility, Wilhelm Imaging Research has substantiated the superior archival characteristics of ChromaLuxe metal prints.

FRAMING

1. Simple Hanger
This simple  hanger floats small prints 1/2" off the wall and has a keyhole in the top for secure hanging.
2. Rigid  Hanger
For medium size prints we back the metal to within 3" of the edge of the print with a 3/4" rigid board. The Rigid Back has a steel reinforced hole for easy hanging right out of the box. Rubber bumpers on all four corners stabilize the print on the wall.
3. Floating Frame
The Floating Frame is the most modern looking, most popular and most versatile frame available. It is great for medium and large images and almost any room or setting. The black brushed anodized aluminum frame floats your print 1.3" out from the wall for an amazing look. A preinstalled wire enables you to hang your print right out of the box. Rubber bumpers are applied on each of the back corners.
4. Shadow Frame
This frame has a more formal look and is ideal for large images in a variety of settings. The shadow frame floats your print on a 3/4" high island of brushed anodized aluminum. The print is separated from the outside wall by a 3/4" valley. A preinstalled wire enables you to hang your print right out of the box. Rubber bumpers are applied on each of the back corners.
6. Custom Wood Frame
Shadow Frames in white wood for minimalist work.
